Satellite Hacking

This is pretty cool — these guys have posted basic procedures for intercepting satellite data directly from NOAA’s weather and imaging satellites. Some of the setups even use a sound card as input from the decoding devices. The resulting images are pretty cool. They also have some information on the different types of satellite systems, and some basic terminology.

Satelite hacking it is possible not because of software weaknes nor access to sophisticated hardware; is just a matter of human error. Most of weakneses that are exploited to gain access by hackers are informational but not related always to software but researching the human resources. Hacking satelites should be considered therorist attack because is related to great damage in echonomical infrastructure and might be theoretical used to destabilize or take over resources and political systems and the level of organization involved in this attack would be accessible only to big organizations and sttes. This is not a joke, a such event would make 8/11 or Hiroshima to look like a huricane in a glass of water!
